NATIONAL ACADEMY FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
under THE PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE

The National Academy addressed an open appeal to international partner institutions on the release of Ukrainian political prisoners from the prisons of the Russian Federation

In the spring of 2014, after the beginning of armed aggression, the Russian Federation began deliberately to make political criminals among Ukrainian citizens. In general, in Russia and the occupied Crimea, for political reasons, more than 20 people were imprisoned today. Among them a film director, a winner of the Shevchenko Prize, a public activist Oleg Sentsov, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for false evidence in terrorism in 2015.

During an endless starvation, the condition for termination of which is the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners in the Russian Federation, Oleg has already lost more than 30 kilograms of weight, suffering from anemia, a slow heartbeat. At present hypoxia has arisen a lack of oxygen in the organs.

And the next statement by the Ukrainian director: He wrote a will on his work in case of death ... Despite this, he stated that he was not going to give up and stop hunger.

In Ukrainian society, there is anxiety: do people have the right to ask Sentsov to stop starvation. Undoubtedly, because such volitional, strong spirit people like Oleg Sentsov need the Ukrainian people alive in order to continue the further struggle for all Ukrainian political prisoners.

In turn, the National Academy appealed to its international partners with a proposal to show solidarity with scientists, cultural and art workers, the public of Ukraine, Europe and the United States, which demand that the Russian Federation stop ignoring basic human rights and the rule of law.

This step is a moral support for the illegally inmates: the struggle is not in vain, they are remembered and fought for them.
