On 1 June 2018 Piotr Gawliczek, NATO expert on the organization of distance learning system, was at the National Academy.

During the lecture for the scientific and pedagogical staff of the National Academy, Piotr Gawliczek underlined the importance of distance learning and its relevance not only for NATO or Ukraine, but for the whole world. The Distance Learning Center of the National Academy is not only the first center of the Global Development Learning Network in the Eurasian region, but also one of the largest in Europe. The expert also draw attention to the fact that in Poland up to 60% of the curricula can be implemented through the distance learning format. He also noted that the future of education is in the virtual reality associated with artificial intelligence, the power of social networks and the like. Therefore, the issue of introduction of new distance learning forms and technologies is topical.

The lecture participants had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the web-page of the Scientific Center for Distance Learning of the National University of Defence of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky.

The expert drew particular attention to the distance learning system of the Integrated Learning, Information and Work Cooperation System (ILIAS) and its web-page. According to the experts words, Ukrainian representatives are already studying on the Polish distance learning platform. Graduates of the programme receive the corresponding certificates with a unique QR-code. This year, more than 600 students were trained through this system of distance learning.

Separately, the expert recommended to study Latin, as a key to learning other European languages.

During the working meeting with Maryna Bilynska, Vice-President of the National Academy, and the representatives of the Distance Learning Center, further directions of cooperation in the field of distance learning under the aegis of the Alliance were discussed.
