THE ENGLISH SUMMER SCHOOL PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION: MODERN CHALLENGES AND METHODS FOR THEIR SOLUTION WAS COMPLETED AT THE NATIONAL ACADEMY


On June 22, 2018 the English Summer School "Public administration: modern challenges and methods for their solution" was held at the National Academy in cooperation with the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (TODAIE).

The participants of the English Summer School were students, postgraduates, doctoral students, professors from the National Academy and the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (TODAIE).

During the first day of the English Summer School there were a lecture-presentation "Decentralization and Development in the Context of Public Administration" and a Case Study "New Silk Road: challenges for Ukraine and Turkey". 

On June 20, 2018 a training session in Vyshgorod district state administration of Kyiv region was held in the framework of the training of the English Summer School. Viacheslav Savenok, Head of Vyshgorod district state administration of Kyiv region, hospitably met students and scientific-pedagogical staff of the National Academy and the Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (TODAIE). During the visit, a round table was held on the topic "Best practices for implementation of the decentralization reform in Ukraine" with the participation of heads of structural units of Vyshgorod district state administration.  

The next day, June 21, within the framework of the business game "Decision making in conditions uncertainty and risk", the students shared two teams and developed their own creative projects in order to prove that teamwork allows you to achieve results quickly and efficiently.

Yurii Nazarov, Director of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration), devoted his speech to the perspectives in Ukraine and Turkey in the context of digitalization of public governance. An interesting, informative and practical addition to the lecture was a visit to the Data Center of Kyiv City State Administration. The participants of the English Summer School learned about the main tasks and functions of the Data Center. Mustafa Ozen, student of TODAIE, an expert on employment issue, presented the Turkish innovative project with regard to employment with a detailed description of its functioning.  

On June 22, 2018 students observed the working process of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. During the visit to the Ukrainian Parliament, they visited the conference hall, corridors and the session hall of the legislative body of the country. During the excursion, the students got acquainted with the history and the present of Ukrainian parliamentarism, the modern electoral system, the work of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, how are the working meetings of political parties and blocs, and the sessions. 

As a result of training, Maryna Bilynska, Vice President of the National Academy, presented certificates to participants of the English Summer School. According to Maryna Bilynska, issues which were raised during the work of the English Summer School, covered a wide range of challenges of public administration and outlined the priority methods of their solution for Ukraine and Turkey.
